WEEK STARTING MONDAY THE 6TH OF JUNE

MONDAY 5TH OF JUNE:

It’s a bank holiday today in Southern Ireland. We did the last of the swapping around with pups, saplingS and kennel dogs, a small tidy up feed up early as it gets too hot by lunch-time and preparing for a busy week.

ON THE OPEN RACES SCENE IN THE UK, WE HAVE ONE RUNNER TONIGHT AT NOTTINGHAM AUSIE MCCOY.

 

TUESDAY 6TH OF JUNE:

The weather is fantastic again and we were on the road early as trails in Shelbourne Park finished at 12 o’clock today. The track was well watered and there was a lovely breeze blowing off the Irish sea. The traffic was very heavy going up to Dublin, but we came back in a hour. It was a hectic morning before we left getting dogs fed and kennels cleaned we also need meat and all our waste we have five broods in season so will have pick sires for them

Wednesday 7th June:

Were doing Wednesdays journal on Sunday morning. We had hounds go to the UK with Ross Myles and Michael Flynn. We also had broods come back from Dunphys stud with Aidan McCallister. At the kennels we did a swap around with pups moving to the rearing paddocks, mother into the pupping down area, saplings from the garden paddocks into kennels and saplings out of the rearing paddocks into the garden paddocks. We changed beds. The day went well.

Thursday 8th June:

We made our weekly trip to the vets and we continued on swapping hounds, pups and saplings around. We are also cutting nails, worming and giving them a check over. We needed food for pups, we gave the yard a tidy and washed the vans. We also got a delivery of cooked bones.

Friday 9th June:

The good weather continues. There’s no sign of rain. We got a delivery of dog food from Red Mills. We did a massive tidy up around the yard and also in my house. We changed beds and got the swap around completely finished. I also had to day trip to England to get paper bedding.

Saturday 10th June:

We needed to collect meat and bring all our waste to the dump. We also collected food for pups. We gave the vans a wash and we galloped a few hounds early in the morning. We got a drop of rain which hardly penetrated the ground and we also did maintenance work. Ross Myles brought hounds that were sold to the UK.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT. AT ROMFORD: OLD FORT MONACO. TONIGHT WE HAVE FIVE RUNNERS. AT TOWCESTER IN THE ENGLISH DERBY SUPA NOVA. AT MONMORE SLIDERS MCCOY, MUXTON LOTTIE, SWIFT BATTERY AND SWIFT LOVE. 

Sunday 11th June:

A typical Sunday where we cook, clean and feed, tidy the website, prepare for a busy week. We also have a load of paperwork to do. We have John O’Reilly coming to check hounds that are schooling. We also have visitors coming.
