Monday 10th june:
Its been a busy morning already as we do the journal at half past 11. We have got the grass cut in all of our rearing paddocks and we are now changing the beds in the houses at the top of the field. I left at 4:30 this morning to collect chicken. The plans for the rest of the day are, we need all our waste away and a load of supplies to collect in portlaoise. We have broods to collect at micheal dunnes and all the other everyday jobs that will be as much as we can do today. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER AT HENLOW POINTLESS PHRASE.
Tuesday 11th june:
Its been a hectic day but all gone well. We have been to brian jones( vet) to get all the dogs that are trialling checked so that was two journeys to dublin and on the way back with the first lot from the vets, i met padgie at newbridge to watch swift wayward trial who is an absolute bargain for a 15 month old pup by the way he went in his trial. At the kennels we bagged straw, did a major tidy and hunted pups plus the everyday jobs of cooking, cleaning, feeding, letting dogs out that are in kennels to clean themselves, changing water in all the runs and doing the job everyone hates doing and we did a major tidy everywhere. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE SIX RUNNERS AT SHEFFIELD CONEY KOOKEE, GRUMPY THINKER, CONEY CASSIUS, CONEY SABELLA AND HAGGSWOOD RIVER.
Wednesday 12th june:
We are doing the journal at 4 oclock in the afternoon as i have been for fish. At the kennels we have had john nolans here to earmark all the pups, we hunted a few pups as well and continued on with the major tidy. We also got rid of all our waste. We also had to meet ross myles who is taking hounds to the uk that are sold. We had a brood bitch to drop off to micheal dunnes who is been mated to tarsna havana. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD TWO WINNERS LAST NIGHT AT SHEFFIELD GRUMPY THINKER AND HAGGSWOOD RIVER.
Thursday 13th june:
Its a wet day so it limits what we can do. We have trialled at newbridge where everything went well. We are bagging straw and other than the everyday jobs there is not much we can do due to the weather. We have a bit of tidying up to do and a bit of paperwork to finish. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS AT HOVE SWIFT OVERTIME, MEXICO, SWIFT BISCUIT AND OH YESYESYES.
Friday 14th june:
Its an overcast morning and i think we will get rain. Im 62 years of age and i have never had a week busier than this one but i suppose what my late mother would say if she was her today, your lucky you have it to do it and your able to do it. We are going to do the last of the major tidy up, we have supplies to collect which will keep us all busy all day. I heard yesterday from a man who will know that towcester greyhounds is going to open again, lets hope he is right as it will be great news. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT AT HOVE SWIFT BISCUIT. TONIGHT WE HAVE ONE RUNNER AT ROMFORD SWIFT TARQUIN.
Saturday 15th june:
As we do the journal at lunchtime on saturday it has turned into a nice day. We have had the lads here from sheffield on a flying visit and they are now away for the 2:45 boat. We got rid of all our waste and we went to newbridge to trial a handfull of dogs. We have both of the vans to wash and give a major tidy to, that will be as much as we can do today other than the everyday jobs. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS. AT CRAYFORD SWIFT FAYA, SWIFT CASEY AND SWIFT NADIA. AT NOTTINGHAM NIDDERDALE LARK.
Sunday 16th june:
An overcast morning but i dont think we will get rain. The main job today is hunting pups, doing every scrap of paperwork on the place and preparing for another busy week. I see swift biscuit is still the leading open race winner this year and its going to be a typical sunday where we cook, clean feed and let dogs out that are kenneled up, if we have any luck and the day goes right we will take the photographs of our april 2018 saplings and add them to greyhound data. ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE EIGHT RUNNERS. AT HENLOW LEEDON BACARDI AND POINTLESS PRAISE. AT SHEFFIELD SWIFT ONYX, CONEY KOOKEE, GRUMPY THINKER, CONEY KUCCINI, HAGGSWOOD RIVER AND CONEY BOOM BOOM.
