WEEK STARTING MONDAY THE 15TH OF JANUARY

MONDAY 15TH OF JANUARY

A cold day and it was -4 when we started today at 6am but by daylight it was +2 like every Monday now we had to be fed up early kennels done cooking done all ready to hit the road at 12 o’clock lunch time it was very cold at Shelbourne but fair play to the ground staff they had the covers on the tracks over the weekend it was well salted well rolled and running perfect the traffic was bad coming come as we were late finished the websites updated so another day over we sent a brood to Droopy’s stud and there must be nobody breeding in Ireland as she was the only track brood on the transporter.

On this week greyhound star  British performance of the week we have two hounds on this week list Swift Battery at Monmore and at Yarmouth Supa Nova.

Tuesday 16th January:

Another busy week. As normal when were busy I’ve neglected the journal so were updating the journals from Tuesday to Sunday on Sunday morning. The weather was a major problem this week as we had very heavy frost all week right up to Saturday morning. The water has been frozen so we had to carry it from my house which was a major job as all the hounds in all the kennels, paddocks and runs have to get fresh water every day. I also went for meat on Tuesday and that was as much as I could do. Ross Myles collected all the hounds that were sold to go to the UK. He collected them from the yard once again which is a major help.

Wednesday 17th January:

Another day of heavy frost. I got all the waste away. We had to carry the water from my house again. We got a delivery of Time dog food. We had broods to collect from Droopys Stud. Again the day went well given the conditions.

Thursday 18th January:

I finally got my paper bedding from the UK as I couldnt get an artic to bring it for love nor money. We changed all the beds everywhere. The day went well.

Friday 19th January:

The last day of the frost. It was another day where we changed more beds. Again we had to carry water from my house. We started doing a major tidy up when the thaw arrived.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS TONIGHT AT ROMFORD: SUPA NOVA AND SWIFT KELVIN.

Saturday 20th January:

Thankfully the frost has gone. We are left with all the mess. I thought we would have had burst pipes but we were lucky as we didnt have any. We had John O’Reilly here checking hounds that are schooling. I did the weekly trip to the vets to collect all the bits and pieces. The day went well.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT SUPA NOVA AT ROMFORD. TONIGHT WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS AT MONMORE: SWIFT PARK AND SWIFT BATTERY.

Sunday 21st January:

A wet miserable day. We will have to prepare for the storm that’s coming. A typical Sunday where we cook, clean and feed. We have paperwork to do, the website to tidy, the vans to wash and we will prepare for a busy week. We also have visitors coming. My head lad Padgie has the day off.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE THREE RUNNERS TONIGHT. AT THE VALLEY: DUBAI KID. AT TOWCESTER: MERLINS MATE AND WRIGHTY.
