WEEK STARTING MONDAY 3RD AUGUST

Monday 3rd August:

Were doing Mondays journal on Tuesday morning as it was a bank holiday in Ireland yesterday. I day tripped to the UK for essential supplies. At the kennels we finally got the sand runs leveled. We gave young pups their second injection and hunted a few pups. It was cold but dry. The ferry was very quiet and I’m surprised how quiet the roads are in England. Wherever you go now there is more and more people wearing their masks like myself which can only be a good thing in the fight against the Corona Virus.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER AT CENTRAL PARK SWIFT LOKI IN THE GROUP ONE FINAL (THE RPGTV CHAMPION HURDLE FINAL) FORMALLY CALLED THE TV TROPHY.

Tuesday 4th August:

Its an overcast morning but with a bit of luck we wont get rain. We have to empty the van with supplies which will be the first job of the day. We have beds to change and we could do a bit of homework with a handful of dogs to get them ready for schooling next week. We will change all the beds in all the kennels, we need a trip to the dump and we need a load of supplies such as wood for boxes and beds, food for pups from the supermarket, expensive nuts from the vets and a whole lot more.

Wednesday 5th August:

When we started at 6am we were getting heavy rain but its cleared up nicely. Whatever happens the jobs on the list that havent been done yet will get done today. The last of the bed changing, maintenance work, boxes and beds for mothers and pups, a trip to the vets and two broods that are ready for mating will go to Droopys Stud. A litter we thought the world of Eden The Kid x Swift Linscott consisting of three dogs who were all sold before they had a handslip. Swift Turban who will be renamed towstar arnie as he was sold to the Towstar Syndicate got his first four bend trial last night second time in the traps at Shelbourne did 28.84. He may not even be the best dog in the litter.

Thursday 6th August:

Another overcast morning, we are getting on top of all the work as my head man Padgie is going on holiday. We got all the young pups earmarked and we got all the beds changed. Today we will worm all the young pups and go for fish and finish all of the maintenance work.

Friday 7th August:

When we started at 6am it looked like it was going to rain but it doesn’t look too bad now. We need all our rubbish away and I hope the vet has the last of our supplies which we will collect. We got the big tidy up finished yesterday and we got everything wormed from 4 weeks onwards. We have more broods in season so we will have to decide if were going to mate them. We will also give the vans a wash.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS AT ROMFORD: SWIFT ACQUIT AND SWIFT TARQUIN.

Saturday 8th August:

We are doing Saturdays journal on Sunday night as is been two very busy days on Saturday we had supplies come which came from the UK and we also had to get the grass cut in the rearing paddocks. We had the last of the work to do with baby pups and saplings and I also had the last of the running around to do collecting supplies to do.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE RUNNER AT MONMORE SWIFT FABIO.

Sunday 9th August:

We had a brood having pups from 3am this morning and it was all going wrong thankfully she came right and she had 7 gorgeous pups, mother and pups are doing fantastic. I have never been as organise as I have this time for Padgie going away on holiday. Kildare has gone in to lockdown again the take away and the pubs are closed plus a whole lot more businesses and there is no trials at Newbridge or any of the schooling tracks in Kildare or Laois and travel is restricted but I can not see any major problems for us thankfully as we are going to school at Shelbourne Park starting Monday the 31st of August.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE ONE RUNNER TONIGHT AT CENTRAL PARK NORMANSLAND FLYER.
