Yesterday the weather was very good it was dried and mild for November like all Mondays when we trialed we have to be fed up before 12 o’clock and the traffic from Shelbourne was a nightmare last night and we didn’t get home till 7 o’clock. We will do a bit of tidying up on the yard, we have hounds that are sold going to the UK with Ross Myles so the paper work will have to be organized as well.

Sunday 20th November:

Its 28 years today since I came to Ireland. I remember it just like yesterday. It was 6 month later by the time I moved into Lughill Kennels as the first two places i put a deposit down on both flooded. Thankfully I got my deposits back. In the last 28 years I’ve seen massive changes in the greyhound industry. Its definitely not going to finish but the biggest problems that the industry have to face is the retirement problem, the greyhound shortage and the age of most breeders and trainers. I’m 65 and I’m one of the young lads in the job. In the last 28 years I’ve seen all the highs and lows. I say I’ve seen it all with greyhounds but every now and then there’s something I haven’t seen before. For example last Monday at Shelbourne I handslipped a hound from a very special litter. When he got to the pickup he grabbed the cover for the hare and ran away with it. It was a job getting it back off him, I stood there laughing as I couldn’t believe it.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER YESTERDAY MUXTON LOTTIE AT CRAYFORD. TONIGHT WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS AT SWINDON MOHICAN FLORENCE AND MOHICAN TARA.
