WEEK STARTING MONDAY 11TH OF JANUARY

Monday 11th January:

The frost is gone so no problems with trials at Shelbourne Park today which is our main job today. We need supplies and we will do a tidy up.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS AT NOTTINGHAM TONIGHT SWIFT TAXMAN, GEELO CONEY, PAPPAPIPPAPOPS, CHURCHILL HOLLY.

Tuesday 12th January:

No frost today so we are going to hunt hounds, collect supplies go to Cash and Carry and do the endless job of paper work. Newcastle United must win tonight and everything is going well at the kennels. I need my mechanic back but he is stuck in Poland as we need work on the vans, he is top class and let’s hope he is back in the next day or two.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT GEELO CONEY AT NOTTINGHAM.

Wednesday 13th January:

A mild morning for January, we have John Nolan coming to earmark pups and marked up schooling dogs we will hunt pups and we need supplies. We have a brood for mating and I have a hound to deliver to Cork and I have paper work to drop of at Ross Miles and I also have to call in to the customs agent for paper work which is now a nightmare. Newcastle United are pure rubbish , yesterday morning reminded me of the 90’s when I had add in the racing post for dogs for sale as the phone just did not stop a big thanks to everybody who bought a hound their all be getting deliver in the next seven days.

Thursday 14th January:

A nice morning and no rain and a busy day. We are hunting the pups and we are going to prepare hounds for schooling. We need a heap of bits and pieces and we are still trying to get paper work sorted out with our customs agent to get supplies from the UK. Ross Miles rang this morning our greyhound transporter and he is all set up to go with hounds next week and all is going well at the kennels.

Friday 15th January:

Were doing Fridays journal on Saturday morning as I day tripped to the UK as we ran out of paper bedding. There was hardly any vehicles on the ferry and getting through customs back into Ireland is an absolute nightmare. The customs officers, guards (police) are looking for problems with paperwork and dont know what they’re looking for. I was kept an hour and a half and I was in the right all along. I had an army or customs men and police checking everything so I suppose this is the new world after Brexit. At the kennels we got the waste away, injected young pups with their first and second injections, took the photos and weighed our September 2019 saplings ready to go onto the website and greyhound data on Monday. We got hounds checked that are schooling and everything went well at home.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE RUNNER LAST NIGHT AT ROMFORD SWIFT ADDITION.

Saturday 16th January:

Its a nice morning for January. We need supplies and were changing all the beds. The van has to go to the mechanics and were going to prepare more hounds for schooling. We will hunt and gallop as well and that will be as much as we can do today. I was reading the article on The Greyhound Star website about transporting dogs into the UK from Ireland. I’m as sure as I can be Ross Miles will travel this coming week with hounds. Even though his van is only 3 month old it now has to have a cert on in England saying that it can carry hounds. He has the Irish cert but you now need one for both countries. He is travelling in the next couple of days to get it done and will be taking hounds mid week. If we get the next week or so over everything will be back to normal with greyhound transport.

Sunday 17th January:

Its a dry cool morning. It will be a typical Sunday with the exception of hunting a few pups, preparing for the week coming and wash the vans. We also need food for pups from the supermarket. On a personal note its 10 month since I had a drink and I never felt as well. Ross Miles our greyhound transporter was all set to leave on Wednesday with his first load of hounds. He will probably go later in the week. If the worst comes to the worst and he cant travel I will definitely head out with five hounds myself. The most I’m allowed to carry as the new rules aren’t strict if you take five hounds or les and you own them yourself. I will probably turn around and take another five hounds but all hounds that are sold will be delivered before the end of January.
