MONDAY THE 20TH OF MAY

MONDAY THE 20TH OF MAY

The hottest day of the year but as we do the journal at 3 o’clock its starting to cool down we got all our waste away i have been to the vets to get passports updated. At the kennels the whole day was took up preparing hounds for schooling.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD TWO WINNERS YESTERDAY AT TOWCESTER YOU TWO AND AT CRAYFORD SWIFT QUINCEY.

Tuesday 21st May:

We needed meat which is now very scarce. Ross Myles came to the yard to collect dogs that are sold to go to the UK. We did maintenance work and it was another nice day. I also went to the vets to collect supplies

Wednesday 22nd May:

We got a delivery of paper bedding. We prepared more hounds for schooling. We galloped and hunted pups. We got a delivery of Gain dog food. Newcastle United beat Totenham in Australia.

Thursday 23rd May:

We needed food for pups. Another trip to the vets to get passports updated. We prepared more hounds for schooling and did a tidy up. The rain returned.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS TONIGHT. AT SWINDON: MOHICAN FLORENCE AND MOHICAN CLIVE. AT HOVE: CLONA URIEL AND SWIFT YURT.

Friday 24th May:

The first job was to collect meat. I left the house at 5am as I thought we would be trialing at Shelbourne Park. At the last minute trials were cancelled for the second week in a row. We are now going to go back to trialing on a Monday. Darren Ryan collected the hounds from the yard that were sold going to Northern England which is a big help. We had a young brood bitch having her first litter who took a heart attack and passed away. Without a shadow of a doubt there is nothing like breeding greyhounds for putting you on highs and lows.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE SIX RUNNERS TONIGHT. AT ROMFORD: FAB ROY, SWIFT UKRAINE, SWIFT INDIGO AND SWIFT RADICAL. AT TOWCESTER: SWIFT MAXWELL AND WRIGHTY.

Saturday 25th May:

Its a busy day. We have over 50 hounds that are named that we will add to the dogs for sale page. We need our waste away. The website has to be tidied up. Maintenance work is to be done and a swap around with saplings and pups from runs to kennels and from rearing yards to the rearing paddocks. We also have a load of paperwork to do as well.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT AT TOWCESTER: WRIGHTY. TONIGHT WE HAVE NINE RUNNERS. AT MONMORE: SWIFT MARIA. AT OXFORD: SWIFT GIDDY. AT DONCASTER: BLUEY BOY. AT TOWCESTER UNANIMOUS LEON. AT YARMOUTH SWIFT LEGACY, SWIFT BANKRUPT, SWIFT CARLO, SWIFT LOVES AND SWIFT DEPOT.

Sunday 26th May:

Its a wet day and a typical Sunday where we do the paperwork, make all lists for the coming week. We have broods in season so we will have to check mattings on greyhound data and decide who they will go to. We have a load of stuff to order online. We will probably give the vans a wash and load all the waste paper bedding in ready to go to the dump in the morning. Newcastle’s hopes of a second successive European qualification vanished on Saturday afternoon, following Manchester City’s 1-2 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium
