MONDAY THE 30TH OF JUNE
An overcast day but no rain and the first job of the day was to empty a truck load of paper bedding. We had run out of paper bedding so once we got the truck empty we changed all the beds in the kennels. We have been to the vets to get the passports updated for the hounds that are sold that are going to the UK to their new owners. We had John O’Reily checking hounds that are schooling and to finish a good day’s work off we are tiding up around the yard. On this week greyhound star British performance of the week we have one hound on this week list Unanimous Kal at perry barr.
Tuesday 1st July:
We will add the open race runners on Sunday afternoon.
You can always tell when its busy at Lughill Kennels as the first thing that gets neglected is the journal. We needed meat from Northern Ireland and we needed passport work done. At the kennels we were worming pups, trimming their nails and I had a hound to deliver in Ireland. John O’Reilly was here checking hounds that are schooling.
Wednesday 2nd July:
The first job was to collect fish. I did the weekly run to the vets. We had hounds that were sold leave for the UK with Darragh Ryan (Ross Myles right hand man) and he collected them from the yard which is a massive help. We had a delivery of bagged dog food.
Thursday 3rd July:
The main job on Thursday was trialing at Kilkenny so we fed up early. We needed food for pups from the supermarket. We got the 2019 van serviced. I was back at the vets and we had broods getting mated.
Friday 4th July:
The first job was to collect meat and tripe. I had bits and pieces of supplies to collect. Its an endless job cutting grass at the minute and keeping the place tidy. We were injecting pups with first, second and third injections. It looks like Newcastle United are going to get busy in the transfer market.
Saturday 5th July:
We need all our waste away, a trip to the supermarket for food for pups, a trip to the cash and carry, the hardware and we also have to go to Red Mills. At the kennels were going to do a massive swap around and cut the grass in the rearing paddocks.
Sunday 6th July:
It will be a typical Sunday where we cook, clean, feed and let hounds out of kennels. We will also get caught up with all the paperwork.
