WEEK STARTING MONDAY THE 28TH OF APRIL

MONDAY THE 28TH OF APRIL

On this weeks greyhound star British performance of the week we have one hound on the list Earls poppy at Central park.

We needed food for pups from the supermarket , bits and pieces from the hardware . the whole day was took up preparing hounds for schooling and we needed supplies from the vet and we had hounds that were sold going to the UK with Ross Myles to their new owners.

TUESDAY THE 29TH OF APRIL

We needed meat so that was my first job of the day . I got the afternoon boat to the UK as we needed cereal and pasta . At the kennels we were moving mothers and baby pups in to the rearing sheds which are for pups from 3-9 week old pups and we were fetching saplings from the runs to be kennel up and to be leader trained.

WEDNESDAY THE 30TH OF APRIL

Darren Ryan collected the hounds that were sold from our yard that were going to the south of England which is a massive help getting them collected from the yard. I missed the ferry coming back from the UK so I was back late last night. At the kennels it was very warm and we did a major cleaning job and tided up every where garages , freezers and the yard.

THURSDAY THE 1ST OF MAY

I wasn’t up till half 7 this morning , my head lad Paige had everything under control the kennels cleaned , small pups fed , garden paddocks fed as the main job today was trialing in Kilkenny

FRIDAY THE 2ND OF MAY

I had a retired hound get sick so the first job was to rush her to the vets. I had to leave her there. She had a million tests done and hopefully its just a stomach infection. Were doing Fridays journal on Saturday afternoon and shes a lot better today. It was a long day as I had to leave her at the vets and collect her at 6pm last night. Our vet is Michael O’Connor in Cashel and its an hour and a half drive each way but I find him to be one of the best vets in Ireland. We got all our waste away which were having to take 2-3 times per week owing to the hot weather. I ordered a load of supplies. At the kennels we changed all of the beds and started doing a swap around with mothers and pups. A hound well worthy of a mention is Harlequin Gee Up who won his heat of The Friends of Newbridge Derby.

SATURDAY THE 3RD OF MAY

We needed two van loads of meat, chicken and tripe today as we were completely out of everything. At the kennels we finished doing the swap around of mothers and pups. We have more broods due to pup and we have started doing a mass tidy up as the grass and weeds are growing like mad with the good weather.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK AND IRELAND WE HAVE SIX RUNNERS AT DONCASTER BLUEY BOY. AT MONMORE SWIFT JARVIS. AT OXFORD SWIFT ZIG. AT YARMOUTH CHARLIE KNOWS. AT CLONMEL SWIFT PALLAS AND AT PERRY BARR LYNNIA MAX.

SUNDAY THE 4TH OF MAY

It will be a typical Sunday where we cook, clean, feed and let hounds out of kennels. We will also prepare lists and plan for another busy week ahead.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE THREE AT TOWCESTER SWIFT MEGAN , SWIFT DEPOT AND WRIGHTY.
