WEEK STARTING MONDAY 13TH OF MARCH

MONDAY THE 13TH OF MARCH

Another busy day like all Mondays now, I was at red mills this morning early collecting bread nuts plus I got food for pups on the way back. Time the lads fed all hounds at home. We left for Shelbourne at 12.30am and it was heavy rain all the way there thankfully the rain stopped when we started trailing and the track was perfect, we also sent more broods to the Droppys stud.

TUESDAY THE 14TH OF MARCH

The weather is getting better, and I’ve been to the back man as I’ve been a cripple for the last week thankfully the back man put my back right even though he nearly killed me. The sweat was coming out of me like the Barrow river with the pain. We’ve been to the vets to get passport work finished for hounds that are sold to go to the UK and we’ve also got all our waste away and we got a delivery of dog food early this morning, we washed the van and changed beds at the kennels.

Wednesday 15th March:

Were doing Wednesdays journal on Sunday morning. It was another dry day. We needed all the waste away. Ross Myles took all hounds that were sold to the UK. He left here at 12:30 pm and dropped them off on the M6 between 8:30pm and 9:30pm that night. At the kennels we were changing beds, preparing hounds for schooling and doing maintenance work.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS TONIGHT AT HARLOW: SWIFT MAGNITUDE AND SWIFT EMBEZZLE.

Thursday 16th March:

Were doing Thursdays journal on Sunday morning.  The worst job of the month is collecting fish. Its a 9 hour round trip. Thankfully the fish is as good as ever. I left Killybegs at 11:30am and we had it packed into our freezer by 5:00pm that night. At the kennels we did a swap around with mothers and pups from the pupping down areas to the big sheds and from the big sheds to the rearing runs. We kennelled more hounds up from the garden paddocks. We also changed the beds in the houses of the garden paddocks.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE RUNNER AT NEWCASTLE SWIFT SILLY.

Friday 17th March:

We needed meat, more food for pups and at the kennels we did a major tidy up. As everyone knows it was Paddy’s Day. They tell me the pubs were jammed all day in Monasterevin. Newcastle United got a massive win against Notts Forest. We played well as Notts Forest are very hard to beat at home. Its the first game they’ve lost at home in their last 10.

Saturday 18th March:

The weather was fantastic on Saturday. We had a brood that was having pups. Mother and pups are doing fantastic. We prepared hounds for schooling and we also got a delivery of breakfast cereal. I forgot to mention we got both vans serviced during the week. The 2019 van with the new engine is running like a brand new van.
