MONDAY THE 2ND OF JUNE
Its a bank holiday in Southern Ireland today but we had a busy day. First we collected factory meat and tripe from Northern Ireland. At the kennels we had John O’Reily checking the hounds that are due to start schooling on Thursday. We also did a swap around with mother and pups into our puppy sheds , we also put the 10 week old ones into our big yard and we brought the broods down from their kennels ready to have their pups. A hound definitely worth a mention is Swift Hunt. She is only very small and has raced between 20.6 kg to 21.8kg and won an open yesterday at the valley and has won 7 of her 14 races at the valley. I have also said it is not about the size its the heart and the engine.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER YESTERDAY AT THE VALLEY SWIFT HUNT.
TUESDAY THE 3RD OF JUNE
We needed all our waste away which was the first job. We did our weekly run to the vets and we also had to get tonsils removed from a hound plus we had to get the passports updated for the hounds that are sold ready to travel on Wednesday. We had to make boxes and beds for mother and pups. There was bits and pieces of supplies to collect from the hardware , floods in Newbridge and Dealz in Kildare. On this weeks greyhound star Irish performance of the week we have one hound on this weeks list Hollybanks at Newbridge.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE RUNNER AT SWINDON SWIFT UNDERWATER.
WEDNESDAY THE 4TH OF JUNE
The first job was to collect meat as its gone very short in Southern Ireland. We had Ross Myles’s right hand man here collecting the first lot of hounds that are sold leaving to go to the UK , he collected them from the yard which is a massive help as some days its impossible to go to portlaoise to the collection point. We have the vet coming to do more passports. We are cleaning the vans and doing the lists for the weekend.
AS WE GET THE OPEN RACE RUNNERS WE WILL ADD THEM TO THIS WEEKS JOURNAL.
THURSDAY THE 5TH OF JUNE
Its been a wet morning but the morning has gone well. I had to go back to Cashel to the vets as I had tablets to collect for a hound and I also been to the supermarket to get food for pups. As normal on a Thursday we had to feed up early for the main job of the day trialing in Kilkenny. We did a tidy up around the yard again as i don’t know where a the mess comes from and once we get the website done the van has to go to the garage for a minor job.
