MONDAY THE 9TH OF MARCHH
A nice day and just about dry all day, the first job was to empty a artic load of paper as we are stocking up with all the troubles in the world at the moment. We will have to do a major tidy up as our next door neighbor is ploughing the fields and nearly has the whole field on the road outside my place. We need food for pups, the paperwork to post off and I have also had to meet the vet as we have passport work to update as Darragh Ryan is collecting hounds tomorrow that are sold and going to the UK. On this week greyhound star British performance of the week we have one hound on the list at the valley Vanessas tiger. The write up below is took from the greyhound star.
At The Valley it was not the opens on Sunday that saw the best performance of the week but rather a graded contest on Thursday which saw Vanessas Tiger land a D2. He had scored the prior week on his debut at the track, taking out an open contest, with the drop back to sprinting compared to four bends at Swindon looking a canny move.
TUESDAY THE 10TH OF MARCH
A dry day and a busy day we have all the hounds checked that are schooling. We have hunted and galloped hounds. I got all the waste away to the dump . We did a tidy up around the yard . We got the beds changed in the Kennels. Got my house tidied up and the day went well. Newcastle united are in the champions league tonight lets hope we get a win and we also checked the broods to see who is in season.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE ONE RUNNER AT SUFFOLK DOWNS SWIFT ZUYLEE
WEDNESDAY THE 11TH OF MARCH
We are doing Wednesday journal on Tuesday evening. The forecast after Wednesday is bad weather once again so we will prepare hounds for schooling tomorrow. I have to go to the vets. We need meat and we have broods in season one of them is Tiffield Tarquin’s mother Swift Acoustic and I am not sure who she is going to yet. I thought Newcastle united played well in the Champions league and were unlucky not to win.
AS WE GET THE OPEN RACE RUNNERS WE WILL ADD THEM TO THE WEEKLY JOURNAL
THURSDAY THE 12TH OF MARCH
Another wet and windy day and its been a real bad day weather wise and every where is flooded once again and there was no chance of trialing in Kilkenny . I have been to droopy’s stud with Swift Acoustic I will either take her to droopys edition or a son of Droopys Sydney. At the kennels we had a delivery of Oneils dog food we also got a hound collected but it is staying in Ireland and we could absolute do nothing outside because of the weather and on the way back from Waterford i passed a garage and the diesel was 2.18.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE ONE RUNNER AT HOVE RULES FOR SOME.
FRIDAY THE 13TH OF MARCH
The plan for Friday. The main job will be trialing in Kilkenny we need our waste away to the dump , a trip to the cash and carry and service kit for the 202 van , food for pups from the supermarket. The article below is taken from todays racing post.
ROSE DRAPER says the best has yet to be seen from Swift Hostile, a Golden Sprint heat winner last week on his return to action after lowering Sheffield’s sprint track record.
Her father Barrie won the 400m competition twice and Rose, who took over the licence last year, is looking to follow in his footsteps with Swift Hostile
“Obviously we’re delighted he won his heat, although qualifying is what it is all about until the final,” she said.
“I was a little bit worried when watching it live at the track because he had a dog on his inside going into the third bend, but he kicked again and stayed on well.
“I expect him to come on plenty for that run, which was his first since breaking the sprint track record at Sheffield.
“He is yet to master the first two bends at Romford so there’s improvement to come and we’re hopeful of a big run in his semi.”
The lightly raced July 2023 whelp races from trap three in the third semi-final, with Draper adding: “He’s a tough dog to seed as he wants three but not five or six – which is what you can get if seeded middle.
“We had a decent run home last week and got back to the kennels at midnight. But he is a perfect traveller, which is important, and fingers crossed we can make next week’s final
