MONDAY THE 13TH OF OCTOBER
The forecast is good and we are starting redoing the rearing paddocks fences , the forecast for the whole week is good and I have staining posts to collect , all our waste has to go to the dump , we have pups to inject and I have the last bits and pieces for the fencing to collect as well. If everything goes well we could be finished in a week it will be a full time job taking all the old fences away . We have hounds that are sold leaving for the UK with Darren Ryan and the last of the tree cutting will have to be took to the recycling center.
TUESDAY THE 14TH OF OCTOBER
Another dry day and the work continues on redoing the rearing paddocks . There is a full van load of rubbish of the first two paddocks which I took to the dump. The first load of sawdust came today to redo the gallop. We had to put tires on the 191 van . There was a brood to collect from Richard Cuddys . We went to the hardware as well to collect more materials for the fencing contractor and to top a good days off we galloped a hand full of hounds.
WEDNESDAY THE 15TH OF OCTOBER
The paddock work continues and I had to get more mesh which was my first job on Wednesday . Where all the rubbish comes from the paddocks I do not know but I was at the dump three times on Wednesday and we relayed the gallop and we got it finished on Wednesday night.
THURSDAY THE 16TH OF OCTOBER
No paddock work as my fencer stood on a nail and is in hospital we schooled in Kilkenny we had meat to collect as we were totally out of it and we are doing a tidy up in the field which is going well .
FRIDAY THE 17TH OF OCTOBER
I day tripped to England to collect cereal. As I do the journal on Saturday afternoon I’ve never been as tired. At the kennels we got the last of the waste and broken wood out of the rearing paddocks. My fencer is in hospital. I have had a stroke of luck as one of the best fencers in Ireland says he will come and finish them off. We also got the last of the rubbish removed from the paddocks.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS AT DUNSTALL PARK SWIFT JARVIS. AT ROMFORD TOO WRIGHT , WRIGHTY AND TIFFIELD TARQUIN IS IN THE FINAL OF THE CHAMPION STAKE.
SATURDAY THE 18TH OF OCTOBER
The dry spell has come to an end and my new fencer turned up this morning. By tomorrow night we will have the first four paddocks fully finished. My right hand man Padgie is going on holiday so I might leave the rest of the fencing until he gets back. Were currently welding the gates back on. To get 16 hinges welded on, it has already taken three different welding men (if you include the one that didnt show up). Getting tradesmen in Ireland is impossible. I asked a lad to cut hedges for us and to also cut a tree. I nearly had to take the hedges into the pub to get him to do it. I have a friend from England Michael Thompson who visits me regularly, He has hands to die for and everytime he come he has to do two or three days work the poor chap. I’ve invited him across again and its no wonder that he’s told me that he’s busy. A hound we thought the world of here Swift Garry (now called Hawkfield Garry) did 18.83 in his first look at Shelbourne, fourth time in a trap and first official qualifying trial. He’s definitely one to watch out for.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK AND IRELAND WE HAVE NINE RUNNERS AT CENTRAL PARK MARTINDALE LAD , SWIFT DALLAS , SWIFT DEPOT AND SWIFT DELTA. AT SHELBOURNE PARK PHOENIX MEMPHIS. AT STAR PELAW UNANIMOUS LEON AND UNANIMOUS KAI. AT YARMOUTH SWIFT YANK AND SWIFT BANKRUPT.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE TWO RUNNERS AT OXFORD ALWAYS WRIGHT AND SWIFT MEGAN.
