MONDAY THE 10TH OF AUGUST
A nice morning and no chance of rain, we are leveling the sand runs out and by tonight we will have five done. I have a load of supplies to order, the paperwork to post off and I am at the hospital at two o’clock nothing wrong just a check up. All of the beds have been changed in all the kennels also by tonight Newcastle United will have made two more signings. The easiest graded selection of the week was Swift Hostile in terrific A1 contest at Sheffield. The layers made the Ian Greaves bred hound the 13/8 second favourite behind kennelmate Slippy Keith (11/8f). Hostile broke moderately but showed great early pace to go at least three clear into the third bend. But he then faced the challenge from the favourite with Catunda Ciaran also joining the action. They flashed past together with Hostile and Keith producing a Draper forecast. Distances: sh, sh with all five withing three lengths in the fastest time of the week, 28.89. That’s five in a row for the cracking young dog.

TUESDAY THE 12TH OF AUGUST
A lovely day we need food for pups, supplies from the vets and all our waste away to the dump. I have also have to go to Richard Cuddy’s stud to collect a brood. We have John O’Reilly here checking hounds that are schooling. We are going to continue leveling the sand runs out and we have to prepare the puppy sheds ready for new pups to go into them.
WEDNESDAY THE 13TH OF AUGUST
Another nice day and as we do the journal at eight am its a nice cool morning. We need cooked bones so I will be collecting them. There’s not much we can do with hounds at the moment with the heat. We will get our waste away to the landfill, do a tidy up of the yard and make the lists for Kilkenny tomorrow.
THURSDAY THE 14TH OF AUGUST
Not as warm which is ideal for trialing in Kilkenny which is the main job of the day . We had to be fed up early and the cooler weather is definitely suiting Swift Vicki who lives in the house with me and can not stand the heat

FRIDAY THE 15TH OF AUGUST
An overcast day but very warm . The whole day will be took up preparing hounds for schooling and the other only thing we will do is a tidy up and Newcastle united are getting busy in the transfer window and it looks like we will make an signing in the next few days as Brentford has got a replacement for Wissa so it looks like we will sign him over the weekend .

SATURDAY THE 16TH OF AUGUST
Another nice day and it looks like its going to be red hot. We wont be able to do any outside work with hounds owing to the heat but we still have plenty to do. We need all our waste away, bleach from the cash and carry and supplies from the vet. We also need meat which is very scarce in Southern Ireland. A brood had pups last night. All went well. Mother and pups are doing fantastic. A hound definitely worth a mention today is Phoenix Memphis (previously called Swift Gain) who won in Shelbourne last night in 28.20. The premier league starts today. Newcastle United’s signings haven’t come in as we would have liked but Newcastle always do well under Eddie Howe when our back are against the wall.

SUNDAY THE 17TH OF AUGUST
It will be a typical Sunday where we cook, clean, feed and let hounds out of kennels. We will also get caught up on all the paperwork.
